2006 Citroen C3 under bonnet paint

Variant: 1.4 SXi
Am i being paranoid, not trusting my dear lady wife's judgement or what?
She has bought herself a newer car (the C3)from a well known and (she tells me)trustworthy garage.
When i saw it, it seemed great, until i popped the bonnet and saw that the paint finish becomes a buff colour in the engine bay. The car is gunmetal grey elsewhere.
I know these cars are built to a cost as opposed to quality, but any other car i have looked at has all over paint finish that includes the engine bay.

might be worth checking its history to see if it has been in an accident.
