2008 Citroen C3 info error on dash "left brake light not working, left fog light not working etc"

Car: Citroen C3
Year: 2008
Variant: 1.4 catchet
Categories: Steering, Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres
When we start our car up the info on the dash says "left break light faulty, left fog light faulty etc" basically all lights down the left of the car at the back dont work, origanally the errors came up on the info bar but the lights were intermitent, now they just dont work, changed the bulbs no joy, citroen want £90 just to put it on the diagnostic machine but if its a fuse or a connector etc could save some money, any ideas??

Well you could try checking the fuses but i dought that will be the fault as they have all gone off. speak to your local indenpendant garage who will be happy to code rear it for you and probably only charge you 30 quid

I have experienced EXACTLY the same problem, although I haven't fixed it yet,i'm 100% sure iv'e identified it. I was convinced that it could be a Earth related problem,so I took the rear light cluster off & unplugged it,the bulbs were ok etc & on very close inspection noticed that the Earth wire going into the plug has become Brown & 'Baked' slightly, then I noticed that the 'socket' on the plug where the Earth goes into was also slightly baked & 'furred' up, I cleaned them as best I could & it worked for a second or 2,but has now stopped again, so need to get this sorted...I am also concerned that this is a manufacturing defect which could eventually result in a Car fire?...... Hope this helps?

My wife had the same problem. The local dealer advised it was a connector to the rear lights even though she was getting warnings for the indicator/ reversing lamp and brakes as well. The dealer replaced the part and it worked for two weeks before the issue returned. The dealer replaced the light connector at the other side 3 months ago and it has been fine since.

I contacted my local Citroen dealer who 'pretended' they weren't aware of any problem,& assured me that it wasn't a fire hazzard...but within seconds said "there's a kit you can buy to sort it out though"...hmmmm! The kit consisted of several part numbers,at least 2 of them being bulbs, poss just another way to get a few extra quid out of you? Anyway, I have a mate who's an actual mechanic(as opposed to a main dealership 'Fitter'/"don't repair it,replace it" policy)he just bypassed the earth plug,it now works fine!

solution 5 is the answer,Arnold Clark dealers in Inverness wanted £300 to diagnose the problem, and fit a new light cluster. Our local garage read your solutions, and simply bypassed the earth with a wire running to the side of one of the bulbs. the light cluster had been soldered up by clark's mechanic, rendering 2 of the bulbs redundant. one of the 2 fuses to the drivers window had also been removed to confuse the issue.

My c3 diesel will start first time but when driving it runs ok then chugs then ok agaiin this is repeated until it warms up and then runs fine on the odd occasions it goes and cuts out and wont restart unless you leave it for ten mins or so then it starts
