2004 Citroen Berlingo wet in electrics?

Car: Citroen Berlingo
Year: 2004
Variant: 2.0 Hdi Multispace
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Every time I drive in very wet conditions, puddles everywhere, the car starts 'missing' and wont start if engine turned off. If it was petrol I could deal with it but diesel? Presume water getting at something elecrical but where? Ta.

Well the ECU is an obvious starting point,
top right inner wing looking from the front,
not just the 3 multi plugs but the wire harness as well,
I'd remove the convoluted black harness covering and check all the way to the engine,
then there's the engine fuse box panel towards the front of the battery,
bigish black box with wires coming out the bottom.
All are in the line of fire when it comes to water,
Also there's the engine RPM sensor on the top of the differential housing on the gearbox.
A little bit of a pain to get at and the connector off but from your symptoms I'd look there first.
It's the lowest point of the engine electrical system and vital for starting/running.

Many thanks 1/4 Drive - Sorry to be dim but what sort of things should I be looking for and what's the best way of dealing with it. How about wrapping ECU and Fusebox in cling film or somesuch?

Well if it were here I'd be using compressed air to "blow" dry the connectors.
and I use silicon grease inside the multi plug /sensor connectors.
And if it is the RPM sensor on the gearbox I'd be re-routing the harness.
Bad news is something called "Capillary action" can draw water from really far down a harness so you really have to find exactly where the water is getting in and where it's shorting the wire insulation.
