2006 Chevrolet Lacetti loss of power

Sometimes when i start the car once i take my foot off the accelerator the engine cuts out. There is a strong petrol smell. This can go on for 10/15 minutes and then its fine for a few days.

Plugs needing replaced , coil pack faulty , MAF needing cleaned / replaced are just some of many causes that can only be confirmed by checking car or scanning for fault codes
