2009 BMW 1 Series can't engage gears

Pulled away, tried to change into 2nd and no drive, no crunching noise, clutch hasn't been slipping, can change gears with out touching clutch, checked hydraulic fluid that's ok,

Could possibly be a faulty clutch, broken input shaft or output shaft, or a diff failure , gear / linkage failure inside the transmission or a DMF failure ( if fitted on that year / model ) You wont know till it's checked out
