2005 Alfa Romeo 147 overheating

Car: Alfa Romeo 147
Year: 2005
Categories: Leaks & Noises
engine coolant levels warning light comes on after about 5 miles. Air con and heating works until this happens at which point they fail. Have replaced thermostat. Pipes are hot. Not losing any fluids. If I take my foot off the gas, it sometimes cools down on it's own.

Sounds like could be head gasket gone , especially with heating failing when this occurs .If you get a sniff test ( block test ) it will confirm if gasket gone .You could check the coolant sensor and fan thermal switch were o.k .and operating allright , but would suspect head gasket .

also check the radiator they were poor from new, the replacements are much better.
