High fuel consumption and poor starting

2016 Aixam Crossover GTR
Car: Aixam Crossover
Year: 2016
Variant: GTR
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Starts after around 3 - 5 turns of the key, and only gives around 20 miles per gallon. Also has a noisy belt, maybe alternator belt. Just bought the car from a dealer who said it had been serviced.
Problem added: Aug 23, 2020 (3 years ago)
Take it back to dealer ASAP with your complaints , assuming you have a warranty .

Yes it is still under warranty, although the dealer told me it would have 3 months , on the day it was delivered after they left I noticed he had only put 1 month on the invoice, but when I phoned him about it he said that he put 1 month by mistake and that it does have 3 months still. I paid the deposit on 03/08/20 . Will they have to collect the car or do I have to take it back to them. Thank you for the reply and help.

Get the 3 month warranty confirmed in writing . Usually down to the customer to return the car but if local , a decent garage may uplift the car but not obliged to unless unsafe , not starting etc .

Ok, thanks. That now gives me another problem as I bought it from 80 miles away and have no way of getting it back to them unless I can find someone to deliver it for me and bring it back again.

Could I have it repaired in a local garage and then have the seller pay the bill.

One of the hazards of not buying locally . You could try speaking nicely to them with regard to uplifting car but dont get your hopes up on that . Can you not drive the car to them and make your own way back or get a friend to pick you up .?

No, as it is a Aixam and not really meant for long distance driving at the best of times, only around town driving really, so I would not trust it that far. Could I have the repairs done at a local garage and the seller pay the bill if they discuss with him first maybe.

" Could I have it repaired in a local garage and then have the seller pay the bill. "

Very unlikely I would think , for different reasons . Unless minor repairs or agreed price afore hand and that would necessitate getting it checked out , diagnosed and estimated cost .

Ok, and thanks again for all your help. I will at least ask for the 3 months warranty in writing but he will most probably argue about that as well. Looks like I have been shafted, and he has the sound car I gave in part exchange up for sell for the very high profit of £3000.

It is really annoying when you hear of people getting shafted but unfortunately there are many such types in the motor trade which often tars other good garages because of their actions . That is one of the reasons that I would rarely undertake repairs to a car from another garage that I did not know or had dealt with previously . The only way I would do so was if the repair bill was paid when car uplifted and then down to the customer to recoup costs from seller . But you can get other problems also by getting needlessly involved . Hope you get it resolved to your satisfaction .

I can only hope they have a half decent reputation they want to keep and will come good in the end. Will find out when I ask for the 3 month warranty in writing. Thanks.
