2001 Volkswagen Transporter electric fault?

hi there i wonder if anyone could help. ive got a vw t4 the problem is everytime i leave it parked in the sun with the windows shut the cab gets very hot and when you turn the key nothing happens, the radio works but no ignition lights show at all, the van can be bump started no problem, and if left to cool with the windows open all is fine. i can only assume its an electrical fault as can be bump started, however im not very good when it comes to electrics and am completely stumped by this. any ideas would be most appreciated!

Strange fault , never came across it before .Only thing I can suggest is checking battery terminals ,all earths, wiring to starter motor and alternator ,all relays and fuses etc . etc.

Another possible cause could be ignition switch .This may help you with problem ,
