Power steering very light and over assisting

2006 Volkswagen Touran 2.0TDI
Car: Volkswagen Touran
Year: 2006
Variant: 2.0TDI
Categories: Steering, Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres
I have recently had the N/S CV gaiter replaced on a 2006 2.0TDI VW Touran.
on collecting the car from the mechanic, the steering felt very light and when turned slightly to the left or right when going round a gradual bend in the road, you can physically feel the steering wheel pulling back into the middle, as if it were over assisting.
the car went back to the mechanic who checked the car out again, thinking something may have not been put back right, but all is ok.
There is no warning lights on the dash and a VAG COM has been plugged in with no error codes.
it has also had two new tyres fitted.
anyone experience this problem before, either on the Touran or other vehicle?

Have you checked the pressure in the new tyres, Are they rotational tyres(Going in the correct direction) Have you turned of E.S.P. to see if that makes any difference
