wipers seem to wipe slower than usual and just cut out for about 30 secs then restart

Sounds like faulty wiper motor or wiper switch,
You will need to check the feeds at the motor with a multimeter and check the earths. HTH.

Has your vehicle got the same linkage as a Galaxy? If so it may need dismantling and regreasing or try WD40 as an emergency measure.
