Turbo/no turbo

2008 Volkswagen Sharan 1.9tdi (bvk engine)
Car: Volkswagen Sharan
Year: 2008
Variant: 1.9tdi (bvk engine)
Categories: Engine & Drivetrain
about 4 weeks ago we drove the car to leeds/bradford airport from barnsley the turbo stopped working after a mile in. parked it up for the week, got back in turbo working. no problems again until this wednesday when during a 3 mile journey it intermittently failed, no strange noises, no clouds of smoke. plugged the solus in this evening no codes showing and all functional tests checking out.
the vehicle is dealer serviced on a regular plan.
can anyone give me any sensible clues/shortcuts please. thanks in advance-tony

its a 58 plate, i've checked leak off pipe type hoses and all intact, i would have thought a split hose would give a permanent failure though ? i'll double check though or better still replace them for a couple of quid.

Seen some hoses collapse under load also but usually happen more often / most of the time when that fault .
