1996 Volkswagen Sharan start no start

every morning starts . then when i go short distance no start . maybe 1 hour then starts again . if i go for long run she starts all time . had electrician look he said he fixed it but two days later the same. its not fuel problem good on long runs smooth drive .bat new. took to garage but it all ways runs fine.any tips would be good .
