Steering rack

1996 Volkswagen Polo 1.9 Diesel
Car: Volkswagen Polo

Anyone had experience of fixing a steering rack on a Polo?
Can they be rebuilt in situ, or is it a a matter of fitting a reconditioned unit?

by the time you have brought the items to do a rebuild it will be alot cheaper to buy a recon unit at get 12 months warranty with the unit but you will need your old unit as most places do surcharges for the old unit

They are easy to replace, drop the 4 x 13mm bolts that go into the rack through the subframe, drop the 4 x 21 mm bolts that holds your subframe up, disconnect your 2 trackrods and your knuckle joint inside the car and hey presto !!!
