1994 Volkswagen Polo 1.3 CL
Car: Volkswagen Polo
Year: 1994
Variant: 1.3 CL
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Hello! I hope someone can help :)
First of all my car wouldn't start all the time, I'd get ignition lights and the fuel pump would engage but nothing from the engine. I checked the battery and it was flat so I swapped it over. After a jump start it was ok but then it wouldn't start again. I had the AA come out and diagnose the problem and it was the starter motor so I changed that it's still not starting. I've got dash board lights and fuel pump but no engine. Anyone know what it could be or how I can diagnose any electrical faults by myself?
Thanks

If the car will start using a donor battery this would suggest that either the alternator isn`t charging the battery or you have a duff battery.Good luck.

Oh but it won't start when I jump start it now though.

Sorry meant borrow someone`s battery just to start the car,not to "jump" start it.If your battery is not holding any charge it still won`t work.

probably the key switch try turning the key slightly more than you would do normally at the end of its travel,if that dont work make sure its in neutral and try supplying the small wire on the starter with battery volts (live side of battery)
