the drivers side front tyre is rubbing against something when the car is travelling. any ideas what could be wrong??

Need to get it jacked up and see if there is excessive movement at wheel causing it to rub . Are you sure its wheel and not disc pads ? If play at wheels could be wheel bearings , assuming wheel nuts are not loose .
