2002 Volkswagen Polo knocking noise from driver side

when im driving the car and start to brake i hear a knocking noise from the driver side. it sounds like somthing is loose but i checkd all the bolts and retightend them. it still makes that noise.HELLLPPPPP

Could be anything from suspension bushes / mountings , steering joints , pads , bearings etc. etc .You will need to get it jacked up and checked out .
