1985 Volkswagen Polo windscreen washers not working

the windscreen washers have stopped working. i have checked to make sure that there is plenty of screenwash but they still dont work!! please help!

Can you hear the pump working ? if not check fuses. If fuse o.k , may need new pump .Can check and see if you are getting power to pump / motor .
