VW Polo 2002 problem

Hi, I had my 2002 1.9 polo for about 18 months and really saticefied until for 2 weeks ago.

1. Power steering - the warning light comes on intermittently and the steering keeps going very heaving. There are no action in my electronic hydraulic power steering. I have checked all contacts and it seems ok. also checked my alternator that gives 14,32 and battery unstarted gives 12v. By the power steering pump there is a rektangular boks with 2 contacts. Maby this is a steering unit for the pump. There are only power on the one big contact. Is it supposed to be elecrtisety in the small one?
I also borrowed a diagnose tester from a friend and it read an error in 01309 power steering. No communication. As I understand this problem can be bad contact points or the powersteering itself...

Anybody had similar problems? Hope someone can give me some good advise so I can get back my steering .

Any help you can offer would be very much appreciated!

Cheers.

Thinking about the battery reading 12v , thats nothing brilliant .That is possibly why the alternator is charging at 14.32 because battery is on low side .With a fully charged battery , the alternator will initially charge high on start up and then tends to level off .Not an auto electrician , could be wrong .Just checked battery figures ,and alternator charging in case I'm totally wrong ,which could be the case !!!

Perform a voltage test with a digital voltmeter. Set your meter to the 20-volt scale. Attach the meter's positive (red) lead to the battery's positive terminal. Then attach the meter's negative (black) lead to the battery's negative terminal. A fully charged battery will give a reading of 12.7 volts. A voltage measuring less than 12.4 indicates that sulfation has begun.

With the engine at a fast idle, the voltage on the meter should read around 14 volts (13.5 to 14.4). The alternator needs to generate a larger voltage than the battery's rated voltage to overcome the internal resistance of the battery.

Dont know if it would be worth getting battery load tested in case weak cell ?

Thanks for input. If the pump was broken it should have been a rear sound or something before it broke down. Last week I disconected the battery and checked all contacts. When I put everything back together the power steering worked for a day. I was realy happy happy happy. Second time I started again it was dead:( I`v tested the battery and it shows 12.58V.. Is this to low?

Hope for more info from yoy guys:)

What is really strange that some guys told me remove the positive probe from the battery for a while which did not resolve the issue. But when I discharged the electric charges by connecting the +ve& -ve probes of the car to the -ve electrode of the battery, then connected everything back, the power worked very fine, but I have just tried this and have no idea if it will last for long time.

let's try
