2000 Volkswagen Polo brake pressure problem

Car: Volkswagen Polo
Year: 2000
Variant: GTi
Categories: Steering, Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres
Hi, i have a brake pressure problem with my girlfriends 2000 Polo GTi. The pedal seems to travel a long way before anything happens and if i pump the pedal once they're fine. It's like they need bleeding, but i've just had a fluid change done and had them bled and its still exactly the same. Has anyone encountered this or have any suggestions how to check the servo etc. Thanks.

check brake shoes on rear not worn down also brake discs for wear. press brake pedal a few times with ignition off then start car with foot pressed down on brake pedal. pedal should travel down a bit if servo is working.

Does that year / model have discs or drums on rear ?

you may have a leak...i.e into servo from master cylinder or the master cylinder itself may be at fault,
