Emissions warning light (picture of engine) showing

2003 Volkswagen Polo 1.4
Car: Volkswagen Polo
Year: 2003
Variant: 1.4
Categories: Electrics, ECU, Warnings & Lights
This came on before and went out. The German, Swedish & French auto parts centre in Portsmouth kindly plugged in a diagnoser (computer, I assume) and it came up with EGR Valve. Reading thro many Polo/VW forums seems this is common fault and people have replaced the EGR vale/Lambda probe and other sensors and problem still there, many hundreds of pounds later.

Can anyone tell me where the EGR valve is sited on my Polo please so a mechanic friend can remove it and clean it, as recommended by the GSF auto parts centre? Thanks. ps off to France with it on 3/8/10 so does anyone know if its ok to drive like this? pps timing belt has been changed

If you go onto E-bay and put in details i.e Egr valve for 2003 Polo 1.4 , you should be able to see what you are looking for on engine .
