2000 Volkswagen Polo car has no power, feels like it is about to cut out when stationary

Car: Volkswagen Polo
Year: 2000
Variant: 1.4
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
My Polo sounds like it it going to cut out when in stationary with the dial jumping up snd down between o and 1000 revs, the engine vibrates very aggressively when in nuetral and when put into gear and accelerate it has v little power and struggles along v loudly whilst shuttering. I managed to get it home from work this morning just about however it sounds like a tractor and has absolutley no power, anyone have any idea what could be wrong and how much this is likely to cost?

Thanks

Could be a failed coil pack ,plugs or one of many other possible problems, you need to get the engines ECU read for fault codes. Also on that car ,

VW Polo 1.4 Throttle Body, 030133 064F, APQ engine type failing for two reasons:
- Lack of power/jerkiness on small throttle opening
- Incorrect idle speed/stalling

BBA can supply remanufactured throttle body with a two year warranty.

Hope this helps.

i had this problem yesterday on my mk4 polo but i was messing round under the bonnet and was able to fix this problem, try taking the air filter box and cleaning any excess oil from round the air intake also make sure your wires are properly connected as i was messing about with my wires i detached them and then put them back together made sure everything was where it should be i started my car and my problem was solved.

does your car miss fire when started and gently revved ??
