2000 Volkswagen Polo passenger airbag light on

Car: Volkswagen Polo
Year: 2000
Variant: 1.4 manual
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
I've already had a diagnostic test because of an issue with the car not always starting and found it was the coolant temp sensor that needed replacing.

They said the passenger air bag has a wiring issue and VW have to fix it. I called them today and they say they have to do a diagnostic test which will cost £129 and then whatever charges to fix the problem.

Is this something that we can check and fix ourself?
