1990 Volkswagen Polo won't start

Car cut out and won't restart, replaced coil, HT leads, plugs, distributor cap and rotor arm but still won't start, seesm to be gettijg fuel through as is smells strong of fuel when trying to start, engine turns over but will not fire.

As you say you seem to be getting fuel o.k , check and see if you are getting a spark at plugs .

Check firing order in case leads got mixed up ?Check plugs aren't soaking with petrol .Checked timing / timing belt .(assuming that car has belt , can't remember )
