1999 Volkswagen Polo dash lights and gauges n/w

This sounds like a bad connection as it the dash lights and gauges are not working. When the indicator stalk is moved to indicate the brake warning light comes on. Previously it started working and now has stopped completely. Took dash out and checked connections but could not find any problems. help.

That car suffered from dash problems i.e
Volkswagen mk3 Golf, Jetta, Polo dashboards / instrument clusters
The mk3 Golf and it's family (Jetta, Polo and Cabrio) can all suffer from a failing dash. Common
problems will be a loss of gauges, but maybe even a completely dead cluster.
In both cases BBA can repair your dash complete with a 2 year warranty.
VW Golf instrument cluster. Mk3 '93 - '98
As for indicator stalk / brake light prob , could be wiring at stalk or stalk itself . Might be best to get an auto electrician to check out if this doesn't help .
