2000 Volkswagen Polo low mpg can it be becuase i drive with cluch down

when ever i turn i press the clutch down and turn everytime a hump comes i press teh clutch down i dont charge gears its a habbit i let my car die out on petrol nd i put £5 i got 27 miles driving around i was mainly in stop and go and did a little extra urban but mainly urban driving what could it be?

can you please tell me whats wrong and also i shift on 2 and a half.

After your post above about insurance , you wont be getting any help from me re. any posts .One minute you're on about a POLO and then your on about a Corsa , are you wheeling and dealing in used cars ??????

Are you stupid, I get 24 mpg if I'm lucky with my astra 1.4 16v, it has nothing to do with the way you drive, 27mpg is average for VW Polo 1.4, hope this helps.
