1999 Volkswagen Polo exhaust sounds louder and eats more petrol and smokes alot

hi i noticed my car smokes alot at random times an my exhaust is gone loud(got it checked for a hole no hole was found)
whe i car my car it feels like it wants to turn off
the exhaust smells alot aswell but the smell is not a bad smell, smells lik fumes
also the car reved today it selfwhen i started it n made a nosis in the engine so i turned it off just in case the engine was getting damaged
and the engine is rattling
my coolant level has not moved so my head isnt gone just yet
any help
advice
repair costs?

sounds like the cat has melted away causing noise its prob partially blocked so the car will run badly remove and check for loose bits inside.if it has gone replace but make sure there is no missfire or the new one could be damaged
