1998 Volkswagen Polo key sticking in driverside lock when opening

there have been a few times this week where my car key has been getting stuck in to my driver side door and not coming out till i have to wiggle the hell out of it i think it might be the barrel for the lock but not to sure. any advice would be great,

Try some WD40 in lock and work back and forth with key .With a little patience it usually clears any muck out and frees off lock , worth a try .
