1996 Volkswagen Polo unexplained loss of clutch and battery/oil light on

Car: Volkswagen Polo
Year: 1996
Variant: 1.0
Categories: Steering, Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres
Within the last few days the car unexplainable stops, however the engine seems to remain on, but there is loss of clutch and brake control. The battery and oil lights also come on. The clutch feels like its pulling when i try and release it, and the brakes feel spongey and useless. It however runs normally when simply switched off and on again. I've noticed it also only seems to happen when the lights are on.

I just had my ignition system done today, and not more than 2 hours after leaving the garage the problem persisted. It has furthered to completely stalling and not starting again. Had to push it home! It rumbles and loses revs when out of gear at junctions generally, then stalls. More specifically though it feels like the clutch plate is slipping when in higher gears, it almost jitters along! I get thrust slightly back and forward. Finally half an hour ago on the way home, it kept losing accelerator power, leaving me with nothing to do but free wheel at some times. Whats even worse is some dick stole my towing loop from the front of the car so i have to get one of them to even get it to the garage!
