2017 Volkswagen Polo clutch pressed engine rev

Only bought this last month. Last night started the car with the clutch pressed. Was making sure I got everything before I go with the clutch up. Ready to go pressed the clutch and the engine rev up at the same time. Tried again did it again. Is this bad? Is there something wrong with the clutch?

If it doing it all the time , a large increase of revs , and not just on cold start , needs checking

Thanks for your response. First time I heard of it last night and it was kind of cold too last night. Didn’t heard it today at all. I don’t even know if this is a problem?

On all vehicles when cold starting , there is an increase in idle speed due to the ECU enrichening the mixture ( just like the old choke on cars ) till it starts to lean out as it warms up . Can vary from car to car , often anything from 1000-1200 rpms which is normal . Hopefully nothing to worry about .
