1995 Volkswagen Polo engine cutting out while driving

Hi,this problem started a few month ago with the revs going down and then suddenly up again while driving. This could happen at any speed. I had the car at a garage but no fault could be found.
During the last few days the engine just cuts out while driving. But when turning the ignitions comes straight back on again.This has now happend 4 times in a week.

Check petrol filter (start from the cheapest option)

Check spark plugs as well. If the spark plug is black that means engine takes an oil.

crank sensor if fitted should be checked, also air flow meter.

Hi again!
I have now had this problem checked out by a VW garage.....but no joy :(
They said all was working as it should and to give them a call when it actually happens??
The revs still go down and then up again(very fast)while driving.
And a on a few occasion's when I have parked the car and come back the engine does not start up - does not turn. But if I wait 5-10 minutes the engine miraculously turns again.
Well at least it has not cut out while driving.
Maybe I have a ghost in my engine ....and will just have to live with it :(

I have exactly the same problem. I tried a simple oil filter change but no change. I changed the coolant temperature sensor which I was recommended by a friend but no luck...
