2001 Volkswagen Polo epc warning light and ignition problems

Car: Volkswagen Polo
Year: 2001
Variant: 1.4
Categories: Electrics, ECU, Warnings & Lights
Hi Guys

Recently had the EPC warning light turn on, as well as sometimes having trouble turning over the engine after only short journeys (popping to the shops etc) resulting in me having to pump the throttle to start the engine.
Are the two problems connected? Is there anything I can do at home or will I need a mechanic?

Thanks in advance!

Believe it or not on that car the light can come on if brake light switch faulty , check them out . When were the plugs last checked / renewed ? If not any of those you need to get it scanned .for fault codes .

Thanks!
Checked the brake lights earlier and all is fine, got a day off tomorrow so I'll have a look at the plugs.
