Idle reving

1993 Volkswagen Polo 1.0
Car: Volkswagen Polo
Year: 1993
Variant: 1.0
Categories: Engine & Drivetrain
Car drives perfectly, but when idling the revs fluctuate. Have checked the carb and there apperars to be a valve near the accelerator linkage that seems to control the idle speed, but it appears hydraulic. Any ideas about idle speed adjustment would be greatly appreciated

Clean or replace if needed , idle air control valve which is what I think you are referring to .Also clean throttle body and check for any air/vac hoses leak .

Carb yeah?
will be at that age,
they're always needing the car to manifold flange replaced.
a steel rubber sandwich that eventually cracks and lets air in past the carb,
weak mixture and hunting,
sound familiar?
if you lean on the side of the air filter unit when it's idling the idle speed fluctuates,
Ebay sell them for £21,
Carburettor to inlet flange.
