Thank you whittingehame for your advice on my polo starting problem. I tried putting in new plugs as you advised but sadly that did not work is there anything else I can try??? Anymore advice would be gratefully received.

There are many possible causes and more info on symptoms really needed .A common fault on cold start is the ECT , this explains .
ECT sensor. This is the Engine coolant temperature sensor. This is not the one that works the gauge - this one sends signals to the Ecu - the engine management system and then the ecu controls the ignition and fueling system accordingly. If the ECT sensor sends false or no info to the Ecu - you will have problems starting .
