2001 Volkswagen Polo n/s front door central locking failure

Drivers door central locking just failed. I can still lock all 4 doors from passenger door. so unit works, but no signal from drivers door to rest. Booked at dealer next week, says may have compressed air system (?) could be expensive to find "leaking" pipoe and cure, or may be electrical- obviously worried about possible bill! HELP - Thanks.

My friend has same problem with her VW polo. Looks like this may be a common fault. Can someone please help with a solution.
