Oil warning light

1999 Volkswagen Polo 1.0L
Car: Volkswagen Polo
Year: 1999
Variant: 1.0L
Categories: Electrics, ECU, Warnings & Lights
The warning light came on then the oil can light came on when checked with dip stick all appeared fine. Looked in the oil filler opening and it had a lot of thick creamy stuff in there. Neighbour said signs of head gasket gone.Due to age of car unlikely to be worth paying for a big job although only done 55k . I have only had it 3 weeks but got it off a friend I trust. Is it safe to just drive it till it dies or can it be fixed.?

Could just be a faulty oil pressure switch , simple and cheap to replace . If not been done for a while , an oil and filter change may help also .If not losing coolant the emulsified oil ( creamy stuff ) will just be normal condensation which does get worse if car used on short journeys , nothing to worry about .

Glad to help , hope it's just the oil pressure switch which is a ten minute job and very common on that and other cars .Best wishes .
