High Revs

I got a polo 2000 1.4 auto the problem is when stionary and the car is in drive the car revs around 1000rpm however as soon as i put it in park or neutral the revs shoot up to about 2000rpm but if i put it back in drive revs immediately go back to normal iv change the plugs but no change

Check for any vac hoses or pipes leaking ,Check / clean throttle body .
