Could be a clutch assembly fault , clutch master cyl or slave cyl . or a combination of all .Without more info hard to advise .Is the pedal " soft " and feel like it has to much free play ?Doubt it would be cables if all gears affected .Chexck clutch fluid level .

Just watch it,s not the clutch pedal bracket that,s broken away from the pedal box,if you stick your head up and use a torch down at the pedal you will be able to see it.

Some cars of that era had a clutch cable rather than a hydraulic clutch . Best to check first as well as pedal carrier as suggested by " busted knuckles"
