Engine wont fire at all

2000 Volkswagen Polo 1.4
Car: Volkswagen Polo
Year: 2000
Variant: 1.4
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
I was driving my car from Cardiff South Wales to Horsham West Sussex. I was around 20 miles from my destination so traveled a considerable distance and decided to stop at the services. Car started back up fine then 100metres down the road it started misfiring then stalled all together and the engine would not start back up. I checked all the plugs, checked the timing belt has not slipped or snapped, I have changed the crankshaft sensor, changed the camshaft sensor, I have also tried a new ignition coil. Car wont even attempt to fire. I have a new battery, mechanically the engine sounds fine. I have compression on each cylinder. Also I know the fuel pump is running on start up.
I fear the ECU must be gone?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Andrew

Not sure on your car Andrew, but often there is a main fuse (20 or 25 amp i think), so have a look and check.
