2002 Volkswagen Polo a gurgling noise when car is decelerating (not under braking) mainly when in gear

Car: Volkswagen Polo
Year: 2002
Variant: 1.4 Petrol 60hp
Categories: Steering, Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres
The car sounds normal under steady driving and accelerating but makes a strange type of gargling noise when you lift off the throttle(not braking).

I had initially thought it was the gearbox/drive train but has now started gargling slightly when lifting off after reving in neutral and/or with clutch depressed but not as much as when decelerating in gear.

Any thoughts would be good. Cheers.
