Am I being ripped off by Garage

2001 Volkswagen Polo 1.9 TDI 100 PS
Car: Volkswagen Polo
Year: 2001
Variant: 1.9 TDI 100 PS
Categories: Engine & Drivetrain
I recently had a turbo replaced on by polo, the car was over boosting (diagnosed) and the turbo would stop working, this was fixed by turning the car on and off.

So new turbo in, drobe 150 to woking on the the way back I was going up a hill on the motorway and the same thing happened, except this time the turbo seemed to be "half" working, and the turn the engine on and off fix from before didn't work.

So I took it back the garage expecting them to say a vacume tube or similar had been fittied incorrectly and got landed with a bill for £100 for an air mass meter (turbo cots aboy £850 parts and labour).

I thought the eddie current meters in the TDI engine were super reliable, so what gives. Do you think it was a fault with the turbo fitting, ot that the air mass meter was a fault in the first place?

If the turbo was overboosting quite clearly the turbo was working, i would have thought the boost control would have been at fault, all this information is available to the technician via the computor to read fault codes and live data, when a turbo fails you will have a smoking car, no power, or running noises etc so yes i do think you have possibly had your leg lifted but i guess you have no way now of proving that, i would just learn from your mistake and move onto a garage that comes recommeded
