Hi. Can anyone out here give me some help or advice. I just bought the 06 plate VW from a dealer. Am a bit annoyed about lack of servicing prior to buying it and technical help from them. I think I may have accidently reset my service indicator when I was trying to get it to just disaply next service due. The indicator (using the "spanner" button) now says next service due 9,400 miles or 744 days. (It did come up with "service now" in red but no longer shows this message as I may have reset it.) The last service was done at 71,000 in November 2010. The car has now done 81,500. I guess I need to take it for a service. If you say yes, is this an oil service? minor service? or major service? VW have 2 types of service - a time/distance service or long life service? I am confused what this means. Thanks for your help.

Hard to advise you on it as servicing intervals and schedules vary tremendously from vehicle to vehicle nowadays .VW dealership should be able to tell you what's required by checking computer records , simple job . Sounds like it is overdue , you would have thought dealership would have carried this out and reset light prior to sale .

Hi. Thanks for your suggestions. Very helpful. In the end the dealer has agreed to do full service, change cambelt and oil change as well as make sure spare wheel tyre is legal. I will pay £350 and they will pay rest. I could have got full refund which they offered without much fuss but I like the car. This should sort it all out including resetting the servic indicator. VW were helpful and told me the last service stamp was not on their database?! Thanks again.
