1998 Volkswagen Passat rogh idle then cuts out

Car sometimes, usually when warm will start to erraticall, at low revs leading to it cutting out. Happened on Saturday on motorway slowing to a stop in traffic jam revs dropped the back up etc ad cut out. Engine temp normal 90 degrees.

There was problems with relay 109 on different VWs , don't know if thats your fault or applies to your car . Worth a check ? See here ,
