1998 Volkswagen Passat petrol smell in the car

Hi guys, I have got this petrol smell in my car for some days. It comes out after I start the engine for a few minutes and goes away when turning the engine off. havent found obvious sign of leak. can anybody give any advice? thx

fuel pipes in engine bay can leak but only under pressure at high engine load.otherwise exhaust blow can smell like a fuel leak

Unfortunately I am not good mechanics at all. if I take it to the garage, how much is it gonna cost me to do the checks?

I turned off the a/c and amazingly the smell disappeared? anybody knows the reason?
