2009 Volkswagen Passat iinstrument panel stops working after engine start....

After inserting ignition key, instrument panel comes to life.. about 3 seconds after the engine starts the whole instrument goes dead.. the car runs and drives as normal and the only other thing that does not work is the indicators !.. I have tried switching the engine off and started again... the same thing happened, panel working then went off when engine started... anyone any ideas,

Either the connector to your instrument panel is faulty or the instrument panel itself is failing.any fault codes .
