I assume you have checked the fuses. If they are OK check that you have voltage to switch and that it is earthing properly

there's no voltage going to the switch. where would it be earthed?

If its a. Pin switch its mounting is its earth. Have you checked for power at the lamp

the switch is in a plastic casing which fits into the boot lock casing. it works on a press down spring metal lever which connects when the boot closes. it has a two wire plug attached to it.

Check for voltage at your boot lamp. Are you sure the switch is in the lock

Do you have a door open warning. Is the plug not for the lock actuator. Some vehicles have a switch with a ball bearing in it which completes the circuit when the ball rolls across the terminals. This could be the cause of your flat battery

Check that the light does not only operate when lights are switched on .Some of the older cars worked that way .

Answered Mar 11, 2013 (9 years ago)
Turn on sidelights , open boot and see if it lights . Operate switch by hand if you have it removed .
Answered Mar 11, 2013 (9 years ago)
but the light doesn't work anyway

If the lamp isn't working and it's got power and an earth , the bulb is o.k , got to be a faulty lamp .
