i bought car about 6 months ago it has 75000 miles on it,it was serviced when bought and got seviced again 3 months later when oil light came on,oil light came on again last week,main dealer says passats burns alot of oil, has 10000 miles since bought wife is doing most of driving

Guess you need to know how much oil it,s using to know if that,s acceptable firstly so best to top up the oil and check it daily to see usage.Other thing,s to do is clean out breather system ,e.g.r. System in case a blockage is pulling oil in and burning it.I would do these thing,s first.

Also have a look for any external leaks. Get underneath with a good light and have a look round.

Common and known fault with that car .You will have to live with it and check oil level more frequently .
