has intermittent start probs.some days starts 1st time others turn key ¬hing happens[not battery]had 2 leave at work &catch bus home. anybody help PLEASE

by non start do you mean engine wont turn over or turns over but wont fire?

had new starter fitted [not problem]it seems it is something to do with connection at bottom of ignition barrel got a part to try but anyone know how u get into metal casing.i can at least start car by pushing wires up into connecter.sorry to be so vague but not much idea about cars.can only manage the basics.many thanks to anybody who can help.
