Recently my VW 1.6 Golf does not start properly. it talkes me a minimum of about 4 starts a day especially in the morning for the engine to respond.
The second problem in that, when ever i am driving and i change from a higher gear to a lower gear, the engine goes off and i would have to restart the engine again for it to respond.
kindly help me solve this problem

Could check engine coolant temperature sensor , common fault .If not that , many other possible causes .When was car last serviced or engine tuned ? If still having trouble get it scanned and see what shows .

I have exactly the same problem with my Golf too - its not every time, but can take me 5 or 6 attempts to start it up, when I change down gears (usually 1st or 2nd) it either cuts out, or gets very close to... did you ever find out what the problem was or a fix for this?
I also have issues where when I'm changing down gears at higher speed, say 5th to 4th - the car begins to judder and eventually stops, but the engine keeps running but all I get is really high revvs constantly even without my foot being on the accelerator? The only way to stop it is by turning the engine off and then its fine again after?
Any ideas?! Much appreciated
