A slipping clutch can damage / score the flywheel .I can see your point re. dependandt on garage to give honest report on clutch after dismantling .If there is a mechanical defect on clutch assembly or slipping caused by leaking fuel getting on to it , it should be subject to a warranty claim .If not , you will probably be told it's down to driver . Under normal circumstances , a clutch should last a lot longer than yours .Unless you are doing exceptionally high mileage or rallying the car !!!! You could ask to see parts they replace ,if you can get someone with mechanical knowledge to examine them for cause ot failure ,if in doubt . But I suppose they could show you other parts and you wouldn't be the wiser .You haven't got much option but to let them go ahead . Hope this helps .
