2004 Volkswagen Golf alarm keeping going off

Car: Volkswagen Golf
Year: 2004
Variant: 1.6 FSI
Categories: Steering, Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres
Recently when I lock my car the alarm has started to go off, at first as normal then the it slows and becomes more of a constant beeping. Very difficult to turn off - can last for 10 mins +. Also at the same time I have noticed that as I am driving the car appears to lose some power - almost as f the brakes have been applied. Don't know if the 2 problems are connected! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There was problems with alarm sensitivity on some models corrected by unnecessary pillar-mounted sensors (all drivers had to do was shut off the air supply (vents) to inside the car). Could also be a faulty door lock which has the . sensor built right into it. Some had probs with rear wash pipe spilling water over boot lock mechanism causing alarm to go off when parked . Losing power could be a number of causes , but coil packs are a common fault .
